This article discusses Islamic microfinance as a tool for financial inclusion, empowering micro businesses, and sustainable development, with a focus on institutional innovation, products, digitalization, Islamic fintech, and the integration of Islamic social finance. Using a qualitative literature review method, the article examines reputable journal literature since 2020 and relevant institutional sources to formulate a conceptual map, challenges, and development agenda for Islamic microfinance. The study shows that Islamic microfinance has normative advantages through the prohibition of riba, gharar, and maysir, the use of asset- and profit-sharing-based contracts, as well as a social orientation through zakat, infaq, sadaqah, waqf, qard hasan, and micro-takaful. However, its effectiveness is still limited by low financial and digital literacy, limited capital and human resources in institutions, high operational costs, financing risks, governance weaknesses, regulatory fragmentation, and digital infrastructure gaps. The most relevant innovations are digitalizing service processes, utilizing fintech and alternative data for risk assessment, collaboration between Islamic banks and BMT/Islamic cooperatives, strengthening sharia governance, and hybrid financing models that combine commercial funds with Islamic social finance. The article concludes that the future of Islamic microfinance largely depends on institutions' ability to maintain a balance between sharia compliance, financial sustainability, and social impact. Further research needs to empirically test these innovation models across regions and customer groups
